- Litchfield

From Kakadu, we drove towards Batchelor, a small village that provides access to Litchfield National Park. The distance quickly increased, and we stayed overnight at a campsite before visiting Litchfield.
We got up early the next morning. It was cold and cloudy. For us, it was the worst day since we arrived in the north. Too bad, because in Litchfield you can swim a lot and safely. The park itself was small but very well maintained. We visited the famous termite mounds. Some were up to 50 years old and up to 6 meters high. Quite impressive to admire. The Rock Pools are a collection of pools connected by small waterfalls carrying clear water. If the weather had been a bit better, we would have cooled down here, but we left it for what it was. We visited several beautiful waterfalls and took a nice walk through the tropical vegetation to the top of the waterfall. Stretching our legs felt good! We quickly went through the entire park, partly because we couldn’t swim. It was our last national park in Australia, and it was nicer and more enjoyable for us than Kakadu.
